Just three km south of the CBD, and right on Sydney Harbour, Kirribilli is an historic and affluent suburb, home to young professionals and creatives as well as (sometimes) the Prime Minister, of course. The beautiful leafy streets are lined with a combination of Art Deco and modern apartments and a few heritage houses, many with glorious views. Locals enjoy the village atmosphere and visitors come on the weekends to the famous Kirribill markets for cool jazz and vintage treasures. Whisper quiet despite being only moments from the CBD, Kirribilli is one of the most sought-after suburbs on the lower north shore.
Restaurants and cafes
The shopping strip near Milson Point station features a selection of Thai restaurants, or you could pop into the Kirribilli Hotel for pub grub and craft beer or wander down to the Sydney Flying Squadron for the skiff races.
Transport
10 minutes by car, or 15 minutes on the train will get you over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and into the CBD or you can walk up to North Sydney. A stroll over the bridge starts at your doorstep.
Schools
Kirribilli is home to Loreto and St Aloysius, two of Sydney’s most prestigious private high schools. There is a wide variety of pre-schools and primary schools in the area as well.
Parks & recreation
There is no shortage of options, starting with Luna Park and the North Sydney Olympic Pool being only a short walk away. For culture there is the famous Ensemble Theatre, one of Sydney’s oldest venues. You might also enjoy fishing off the Beulah Street Wharf. The locals do!
