A city within the city, Chatswood is the fourth largest commercial area in Sydney. There is never a dull moment in this cosmopolitan hub which is pulsing with business, culture, entertainment, art, retail and dining. The recently completed Concourse features a large concert hall, theatre and art space. Chatswood is home to two dance companies and the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra. The suburb has two movie complexes, both Westfield and Chatswood Chase Shopping Centres, and a library. With many major companies and government offices being located here, it is also a major employment centre. Its residents can choose from high rise apartments on Pacific Highway or the highly prized heritage homes surrounding the business district.

Restaurants and cafes

A third of Chatswood residents have Chinese or Korean ancestry so Asian dining is a highlight. Two of the most popular are trendy Mamak for Malaysian and Khao Pla for delicious Thai or there is fine dining at Rocket Restaurant.  The Orchard Tavern is great for a beer and the Chatswood Monkey Bar offers big screen sports and cocktails.

Transport

Chatswood has transport covered, with a major bus terminus, regular train services and services will improve further with the Sydney Metro Northwest including a stop at Chatswood station. The Sydney CDB can be reached in a 20 minute train ride or 15 minute drive.

Schools close to Chatswood include Chatswood High School, St Pius X College, Mercy Catholic College and Willoughby Girls High.

Parks & recreation

Despite being extensively developed, Chatswood retains significant bushland areas around the Lane Cove River and the foreshore of Middle Harbour.
