Designed by award-winning architects Redgen Mathieson, The Agency’s stunning new office holds prime position in the new Pacific Bondi Beach development overlooking the iconic strip of sand. The transparent, striking space has been designed to embody and foster the brand’s dynamic approach to the real estate industry.
“Our vision was to create an environment where our staff could share ideas, network and engage. Energy is everything in this business and the Pacific Bondi Beach offers agents the best lifestyle and work environment we can deliver. Positioned to service the entire Eastern Suburbs footprint, we view the Bondi office as more than a workspace, it is there for our community, be it our network of staff, clients, business partners, family and friends. We want people to pop in, have a coffee, enjoy the view and plug-in to our ‘open’ hot desk,” explains The Agency’s CEO Matt Lahood.
There are standout design features within the 570sqm space that compete with the amazing beachside views. These include the 9.5 metre-long, solid-concrete hot desk, spacious LED video walls and transparent internal pavilion-cum-boardroom. Additionally, there is a purpose-built, in-room auction facility.
“In the brief there was a clear desire to enhance the collaborative energy of the agents and to utilise technology. These ideals overlaid the functional requirements, including individual spaces for agents, training and meeting rooms, and areas for presentations and launch events,” says Phillip Mathieson, architect and Director of Redgen Mathieson.
The Agency deliberately wanted to avoid current office trends and design fashions – to create a space as unique as the business model itself and its dynamic culture. This strategy led The Agency to Redgen Mathieson, a firm renowned for its rational planning and rigorous simplicity across residential, hospitality and commercial spaces.
“We commissioned Redgen Mathieson as they are high-end design architects with a strong focus on the optimal utilisation of space, with a high attention to detail,” explains Steven Chen, Director The Agency Projects.
According to Phillip Mathieson, The Agency’s flagship office was conceived as a gallery space, with exposed raw concrete surfaces, blockwork walls and services key to the design’s framework. Transparency is an innate part of The Agency’s ethos and this is physically represented in the office’s open-plan, exposed design. Polished concrete floors and a palette of white, silver and grey throughout, unify the space.
Steven Chen and the Projects team have a strong association with the Pacific Bondi Beach development as they were instrumental in the sale of the project.
“Our team worked closely with the vendors from the very start of the Pacific project, right through to the last apartment we sold this year for $11.75m (which was a shell). We are now delighted to be doing business here on a full-time basis,” Steven Chen says.
It was a unanimous agreement between The Agency’s directors Matt Lahood, Ben Collier, Shad Hassen and Steven Chen to move into the Pacific Bondi Beach, given its outstanding location, space and unique facilities.
“We have the most amazing office space on the northeast corner of the new Pacific project, directly opposite Bondi Beach!” Steven Chen says. “The first-class services that cater for the residents also cater for our staff and clients, we saw the Pacific as a very unique offering. There are a host of facilities, including valet parking, restaurants, cafes, providores, gymnasium and of course Bondi Beach.”
The Agency, 180 Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach, will be home to 45 agents, along with property management and administration staff. The building work was completed by City Projects, overseen by Director Frano Bacic.
