Property Insights Podcast | 1 October, 2024
The Agency Co-Founder and Real Estate CEO Matt Lahood joined Yellow Brick Road founder Mark Bouris AM for the Property Insights podcast, where Matt discussed his 35-year journey in the real estate world and the current state of the market nationally.
In the episode, Matt discusses the reasoning behind why first-home buyers are not purchasing property despite interest rates being low.
"There's not enough property being built, the building industry has been copping it. Builders are not building, developers are not wanting to take risks, builders are not sure if they'll be in business in 12 months. They can't get the staff, cost of materials is going through the roof. We just dont have enough property out there for these people to get into their first home."
Matt encouraged first home buyers to look to Queensland, particularly the outskirts of Gold Coast.
For investors, Matt highlights Brisbane and Perth as strong markets.
"The rental market in Brisbane is very strong and is only going to get stronger [with the Olympics]. There is not a lot of building going on. I'd be putting my money over there."
"If you had some extra cash, defintely Perth. The rental market is really stong there."
